Here is some helpful computer hints to help keep your computer running smoothly. ByteKnights encourages you to download and use Mozilla Firefox web browser over Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) which is Microsoft's default web browser. The main reason we encourage Firefox is for security issues. With malware and viruses on the rise, a lot of the viruses are targeted for IE. Firefox is also W3C compliant. IE is not. This is important for web developers and designers. There are other reasons to use Firefox over IE but we will not go into all the details about each reason here. Download Mozilla Firefox here
You also need an anti-virus software for your computer. Here at ByteKnights we use and recomend AVG anti-virus software because it does not hurt the wallet in todays econmy. AVG has a free version of their software just for your personal PC. They also have a more advanced version of their software for a small fee.

Besides using Firefox as your browser, and AVG as your anti-virus software; here are a few other tips to keep your computer healthy.
- Do not open email from anyone that you don't know, this is especially important for email attachments. This is the leading cause of computer spread viruses.
- Do not give out your passwords to anybody, regardless of who they are.
- When doing online shopping, make sure you have a secure connection. There will be a lock icon (picture) in the lower right hand side of your Firefox browser. Your address bar will have https: instead of http:
- Never buy anything from a popup window.
